Hit Me With Your Best Pitch: An Interactive Evening With Jon Kaplan

An interactive session pitting your best media pitches against a veteran editor’s expectations.

Want to know why your pitches succeed or fail? Join PRSA Suburban Chicago at our dinner program Tuesday, October 8th for an interactive evening with Jon Kaplan, of Greenmark Public Relations and an eight-time Emmy Award winning television broadcaster, with more than a decade of experience in television news. Jon is going to don his editor’s hat once more and give us a peek into the hidden world of journalism, where pitches live or die.

Ask a roomful of public relations professionals about pitching story ideas to journalists, and the stories will be as colorful as they are varied. Ranging from pitches you knew shouldn’t have succeeded but turned out to be successful, the spectacular flameouts you cringe at remembering, to the sure thing that was a sure dud, everyone has a story to tell about their best – and worst – pitches. But ask them why those pitches succeeded or failed, and the only answers you’re likely to get are guesses. No one knows….till now.

This is an interactive session, so bring your best news releases and pitches, or those you’ve always wondered about, and Jon will give you an on-the-spot critique.  Join us for a fun, no pressure evening to improve your pitching techniques, with the news releases and pitches you actually use for your company or clients.
