Bobbi SimmonsSimmons will speak about ethical dilemmas currently in the news and how they impact the careers of PR professionals. Highlights will focus on conflicts in digital communication, including social media and native advertising, followed by small group discussion and analysis of three ethical scenarios.  The conflicts reveal how PRSA resources can provide guidance through application of the Code of Ethics.

About the Presenter:
Bobbi Simmons
Bobbi Johnson Simmons, APR, was president of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hoosier Chapter in 2012, her 25th year of PRSA membership. Over those 25 years she has served in nearly every board and committee capacity including delegate to PRSA’s annual convention and member of its Counselors Academy. She has held APR (Accredited in Public Relations) status for over 20 years.

Her PR career began in the PR/marketing agency side of the business after graduating from Indiana University with a degree in English, specializing in marketing. Over ten years, she increased the agency’s PR business revenue more than 12 times and became vice president of the division with staff in Indiana and New York. Her clients have included nationally known brands such as Red Ball Jets, Grasshoppers, Jenn-Air appliances and McDonald’s. Her specialty in architecture and building products brought her national acclaim with projects she created appearing in magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens and House Beautiful. As a member of the National Association of Home Builders, she became a trustee of its National Sales and Marketing Council.

After several positions managing PR for Midwest-based marketing and PR firms, Simmons moved into corporate communications as director of public relations for Arlington/Roe. Simmons has served on committees and boards of several charitable organizations including the Indiana Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband have three grown sons and three grandchildren.
Evening includes Program, Dinner, Dessert, and non-alcoholic beverages, along with networking with some of the Suburb’s friendliest PR pros.
